ACCOUNTANCY WEEK 2008

Day 1: Opening The day started early with all the seniors crowded the ground floors in a Sunday morning to do the finishing (and desperate) touches for the booth display. What booth displays on July? You read right, this year marks the a whole new evolution to the celebration of our Accountancy Week. The tradition has to set aside and give way for something new. There will be no Ms. JPIA, no big night pageant, no costly literary musical contest. This year we have a booth display at the college building, muses for each year section, on the spot literary musical contest and three day of fun! That three times the fun. Why stick to the tradition every time when we can have a new, less cost, thrice the fun celebration once in a while.

The formal opening of the Accountancy Celebration 2008 begins with an opening mass celebrated by Fr. Marnito Bansig. The event was attended by all the JPIAns, parents of the STAR JPIAns, the faculties, alumni, and the members of the PICPA - Southern Leyte.

Right after the mass was the launching of the year-level presentation and the awarding of Star JPIAns and Academic Scholars. The presentations were judged by the members of PICPA Souther Leyte. Students with general weighted average of at least 1.8 with no grades lower than 2.2 in any subjects from the previous semester are awarded as Star JPIAns. First to present was the Seniors Class with their fairy tale musical play starring the 7 Disney princesses, the prince charming and the witch. Second were the Juniors with their dance showdown number where they divided their class according to their teams. Next were the modeling/dance number by the Sophomores. And lastly the surprising Freshmen with their interpretative dance number.

After all the year-levels were done, it was the time for presentation of the muses of each sections. There are a total of 14 muses all in all with two coming from each of the seven sections. The muses presented their grand production number with style and elegance displaying the beauty JPIAns can have. The muses themselves were also competing against each other for the firs Ms. Accountancy Week 2008. This competition was judged by the former JPIA Presidents. There’s no doubt all eyes were focused on the lovely and sexy muses, definitely.

The next activity was held on the college building for the formal launching of the JPIA Booths that will be displayed for the whole week. We have prepared three booths. First was the booth for the JPIA Bazaar where goods are sold as an income generating project. The other two booths are for the Debit Team and Credit Team. The Debit Team displayed their booth with the concept “Accounting through the years…” showing the history and of our department. The Credit team on the other hand was in charged with the Booth of Faith with the theme “What accountants do…” that showed the different careers of our alumni. The ribbon cutting were done as the JPIAns cheered for their them with their cheers.

Finally it was time for the announcement of winners. For the year-level presentation, the Seniors won the first place, followed by the Freshmen, the Juniors and last was the Sophomores. For the muses it was Ms. Gizelle Marie Rosete of the Debit from the seniors that took this year’s Ms. Accountancy Crown. Runners-up were fellow senior Ms. Rea Nie Malasaga of the Credit and Ms. Daylin Mantahinay of the sophomores Debit Team.

The overall leader for the day was the Debit Team after they won the attendance plus the points gathered from the pageant.
