It was in 1994 that Saint Joseph College was granted the permit to offer the program Associate in Computer Science. The department started with 2 computer laboratories and 1 air conditioned lecture room in the old college building. There were less than a hundred students enrolled at that time with 2 faculty members namely,Engr.Ma.Dulce Siega, who was at the same time the program head and Mr.Faustino Orito and the program is under the deanship of Mr.Crispin D.Arong.During the school year 1995-96, enrollment increased and the department has added new personnel namely, Ms.Yvonne Quisado, a BSCS graduate of the University of San Jose Recoletos, and Mr. Nelson Garde as the technician. Due to the increasing enrollment, the department added more instructors in the person of Mr. Teodefredo Esclamado, Mr. Victorino Gonzales, Mr. Alejandro Icamen and a BSCS graduate of the University of San Jose Recoletos, Ms. Riza Lynn Ordiz. by school year 1996-97, the pioneering class has graduated with the title of Associate in Computer Science and only less than 10 students continued to the third year. Enrollment at that time soared to more than 600 students. One computer laboratory was constructed to accommodate the increasing number of students. It was in school year 1997-98 that enrollment has reached to more than 900 students.Additional faculty were hired in the persons of Mr. Marnuld Climaco, Ms. Josseca Bancog, Ms. Haidee Tantoy and Mr. Janick Cardoza. By school year 1998-99, there were 6 pioneer graduates of the degree Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, one of which became a faculty of the department, Ms. Evangeline Ellazar. It was also during this year that the Y2k issue was very controversial. Enrollment then dropped to 600 students and continued the drop in the succeeding school years. In 2003, the department had a new Dean, Mrs. Riza Lynn Ordiz-Siega who earned a masters degree in computer science at De La Salle University, Manila.Engr.Ma.Dulce Gonzales was then assigned as the Director of Physical Plant and Services. The department transferred to its new home,the fourth floor of the new college building, with 3 computer laboratories equipped with 45 computer units each and an air conditioned lecture room. By school year 2004-05, enrollment started to rise, from 200 plus students in the previous years until it reach more than 500 in that school year. by school year 2006-07, the department has added two vocational programs that are registered under TESDA, the Diploma in Office Technology and Diploma in computer & Network Technology. a computer and network laboratory was constructed. Instructors that can handle the technology subjects of the two programs were employed namely, Mr.Victor Dumaguit, a part timer, Mr.charlemagne Dalida, the department's very own graduate, and a computer engineering graduate, Mr.Renaldo Ellazar. With the new programs added, the department was renamed into the Computer Science & Technology department. At present, enrollment continued to increase with 498 students enrolled in computer Science, 55 enrolles in Diploma in Office Technology and 68 students enrolled in computer & Network technology.

The Department is also a TESDA accredited assessment venue for PC Operations NC II, Computer Hardware Servicing, and Computer Programming NC IV where most opf its faculty members are TESDA accredited assessors. A number of its CompTech and OfTech students are recipient of the TESDA PESFA Scholarship program. Since the Computer Science degree is registered under TESDA's Laderized Education Program (LEP), almost all of its first year students of the school year 2007-2008 are recipients of the PGMA-LEP Scholarship program.

With the school president's unwavering support for the department, new facilities that are not only used by the CS & TECH students but as well as all of the students are constructed like the Multi Media Center and the state-of-the-art Speech laboratory that uses the latest technology.
