Every June 12<\/strong>, the nation proudly commemorates Philippine Independence Day<\/strong>, a historic occasion that marks the declaration of the country\u2019s freedom from Spanish colonial rule in 1898. At Saint Joseph College, Maasin City<\/strong>, this day is not just a remembrance of the past but a celebration of courage, unity, and identity as Filipinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 12, 1898<\/strong>, General Emilio Aguinaldo proclaimed the sovereignty and independence of the Philippines in Kawit, Cavite.
