Accountancy Departmentsโ faculty and staff, together with the fourth-year students of the Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information Systems (BSAIS) programs, with their proud families gathered at Combado Gym, Brgy. Combado, Maasin City, Southern Leyte for their much awaited first Pinning Ceremony, on July 5, 2025.
The ceremony kicked off with a processional march of the students with their parents and guardians, walking gracefully down the red carpet, savoring the momentous occasion. It was followed by a prayer sang by Ms. Pauline Canta from BSA 4C, then the singing of the national anthem and SJC hymn.
The JPIA President, Mr. Fran Andrew I. Espedilla, gave a warm welcome to everyone. He highlighted that the success of the event wouldnโt be possible without the officers โ executives and appointed who contributed and shared their time and effort just to make sure that the event will be a success.
The highlight of the event which was the pinning ceremony followed. Each students with their parents and guardians accompanied them to the stage as they were each proudly pinned โ a symbol of the start of their On-the-Job Training as an Accounting Interns, ready to begin their training in a real-world setting relating to their field of expertise.
The eventโs keynote speaker, Mr. Avel Fernandez, MBA, who was also an instructor and a faculty member of the department delivered his message to everyone. He highlighted that the event was not only a mere ceremony but a symbol of the studentsโ dedication, perseverance, and unwavering pursuits of excellence. He added that the pins that each studentsโ proudly received was not just an emblem, but signifies the each interns readiness to transition from academic learning to practical application in their respectively host training entities (HTEs).
He concluded his message by giving a warm encouragement and congratulations to each of the BSA and BSAIS interns saying that โKeep learning, do not stop learning. Stay ethical for it will reflect who you are in the future. Also, always strive for excellence, not perfectionโฆ In everything that you do, do it like the first time.โ
Following this, Mr. Melchor Obligado, CPA, MBA, led the Oath of Undertaking which was a symbol of the internsโ commitment to do their responsibilities and duties in accordance with the ethical standards. The interns raised their right hands and solemnly pledged to uphold professionalism and integrity throughout their OJT journey.
The closing remark was delivered by Mr. Tristan Jun G. Esclamado, CPA, MBA, the proactive dean of the Accountancy department. As the event has come to an end, he acknowledge each of the proud parents and family, whom he said that was the happiest during this historic event. He stressed that the fact that the interns reached their senior year, itโs a testament on how they love their parents, for being an accountancy and accounting information system student was not easy. He concluded his message by wishing all the best for the interns on their OJT journey.
The first Pinning Ceremony of the BSA and BSAIS students of the Accountancy Department stood as a proud testament to the departmentโs growing legacy and the studentsโ commitment to their calling. With pins proudly worn and heads held high, the interns now carry not just the name of their institution, but the values, virtues, and learnings it has instilled in them. Indeed, this remarkable milestone will forever be etched in the hearts of everyone present, making a history worth remembering.
