The most anticipated basketball game between Mandia and Godfrieda for this year’s Intramurals 2025 commenced on September 9, 2025, at Pope Paul VI Minor Seminaryโ€™s basketball court and Asuncion Gymnasium, Brgy. Asuncion, Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

The first game between the Junior High School Grade 7 and 8 Mixed (Boys) Division, held at PPVIMS, in which Godfrieda took the lead, setting a 17-point lead over its opponent in the first quarter.

Contagious cheers continued to fill the venue as Visto from Mandia began to blaze with its three-point shots in the 2nd quarter. Meanwhile, Godfriedaโ€™s tight defense was undeniably good, which made them secure their lead. As both teams aimed to be victorious at the end, Godfrieda ended as winners, garnering a final score of 75 against Mandia’s 31.

The following game between the JHS Grade 9 & 10 (Boys) Division, which was held at Asuncion Gymnasium, Mandia began to put the tension on as their first 5 players, with good communication on the court, led them to outsmart Godfrieda with a score of 26 against 16 at the end of the 1st quarter.

An unstoppable series of shots by Reyes and Estrella propelled Mandia to secure a 13-point lead in the 2nd quarter. The game became more exciting as Flores from Godfrieda showed off his pristine shots to chase the point lead of Mandia, but was no match for the communication on the court of Orag and Reyes, who continuously demonstrated their remarkable shooting skills with great assist, leading to a quarter win.

The tension continued filled the venue as the game between the two teams became more and more at close. Mandiaโ€™s power trio – Reyes, Orag, and Estrella continued to dominate the game, which, at the end, sealed the game with a final score of 80 – 63.

Proud coach of Team Mandia, Jerry Mae Vincent M. Jualo, highlighted that teamwork and communication during the game led to their win against the other.

Who says basketball is for men/boys only? The third game between the JHS/SHS Girls Selection Division also made the audience erupt from their seats as players from both teams showed exceptional skills in the game.

Modeo, Fajardo, and Eco from Godfrieda made the court their territory as they effortlessly dug and shot the ball into the basket. Meanwhile, Salazar and Caparoโ€™s combo from Mandia also helped the team to match the vying team. Mandiaโ€™s evident teamwork led them to win the first quarter with 26 points, as Eco ended the quarter with her three-point shot.

The game continued with a series of exchange points from each team, with steals, layups, and three-point shots making the game more exciting and fun. At the end, Godfrieda outscored Mandia with a score of 77 against 47 for Mandia.

The awarding ceremony immediately followed each game, to which players gladly received their medalsโ€” a symbol of their sweat and hard work as they gritted their way to meet the net to make their respective team proud. Indeed, the game ended on a high note, as both teams not only carried the pride of their teams but also happily embodied the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship throughout the game.
