Today, November 18, 2025, marks the annual public health initiative “European Antibiotic Awareness Day.” Coordinated by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, this day promotes the responsible use of antibiotics in both humans and animals.

It raises our awareness about the ever-growing threat of antibiotic resistance, and we are all encouraged to help curb it by following medical guidance and only using antibiotics when deemed necessary. This campaign’s goal is to slow the development of resistant bacteria and to ensure that antibiotics remain effective for future generations.

It is a shared responsibility for each and every one of us to safeguard the effectiveness of antibiotics. It requires the action of everyone, not just healthcare workers, but also teachers, government workers, students, and fellow citizens.
