MAASIN CITY โ The Maasin City Division officially commenced Sangka 2025: The City Tigers Meet on November 26, 2025, with a parade from the city plaza to the Maasin City Sports Complex at Tomas Oppus Pilot School. Anchored on the theme โMaasin’s Finest: Breaking Records, Building Character,โ the athletic meet serves as preparation to select athletes to play for EVRAA 2026 in Baybay City this coming March.
Delegations from the four districtsโOrange Phoenix (District 1), Red Falcons (District 2), Blue Marlins (District 3), and Green Hornets (District 4)โjoined the parade, along with SJC Green Hawks, CM Griffins, and MCA Sunbeam.
In the open field of the Maasin City Sports Complex, the opening ceremony featured words of welcome from Dr. Jaime Leon T. Cardona, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; Hon. Luz V. Mercado, Maasin City Mayor; and a Saludo Competition for all seven competing delegations led by Sir Roland Mendoza.
EVRAA and Palarong Pambansa medalists led the Lighting of the Torch, followed by the Division Banner Raising. Inspirational messages were delivered by Hon. Jason Calva and Dr. Genis S. Murallos, Schools Division Superintendent. Afterwards, was the Sacred Oath for all competing athletes led by Mr. Sam Jordan Rodriguez, a Josephinian Batang Pinoy gold medalist, while the Division Sports Coordinator, Sir Fernando Salapi, led the oath for coaches, trainers, and sports officials.
It was Dr. Genis S. Murallos who officially declared the opening of the three-day athletic meet.
Special awards were given to:
Most Disciplined Delegation – Saint Joseph College, Green Hawks
Most Festive Delegation – Saint Joseph College, Green Hawks
Saludo Champion – District 4, Green Hornets
It is set that the Sangka 2025: The City Tigers Meet will take place from November 26-29, 2025. And with that, the opening ceremony ended with a Unity Dance and a vibrant fireworks display.
