Saint Joseph College, Maasin City — With the theme “Shaping the Future, Together: Adapting and Thriving in 21st Century Education,” this year’s INSET (In-Service Education and Training) gathered educators, administrators, and academic leaders of Saint Joseph College in a transformative initiative aimed at future-proofing education.
Held against a backdrop of green and gold drapery symbolizing growth and excellence, the event highlighted the institution’s commitment to continuous professional development and innovation. The program focused on equipping teachers with updated teaching strategies, digital tools, and learner-centered pedagogies aligned with global education standards.
The keynote sessions, workshops, and collaborative discussions emphasized the need for adaptability, creativity, and resilience in today’s dynamic academic environment. Participants were inspired to become proactive contributors to educational transformation, ensuring that SJC continues to produce graduates who are not only competent but also compassionate and globally competitive.
As the iconic image of Saint Joseph stands as a reminder of the institution’s mission, the INSET served as a clarion call for unity and growth — shaping a future-ready learning community grounded in the core values of faith, service, and excellence.
Fostering a Thriving SJC: Integrity, Inclusivity, LAsting Success. A Heartfelt Call to Growth and Contribution
In a meaningful and interactive session, Sister M. Clare, OSF delivered an inspiring input to the faculty and staff of Saint Joseph College, centered on the theme of fostering a thriving SJC. With warmth and clarity, Sister Clare used the powerful analogy of cultivating plants—highlighting that just like plants, institutions also need favorable conditions to grow and flourish. Walking among the participants, she posed a reflective question: “How can each one contribute to creating a favorable condition for SJC to thrive?” This question not only invited personal introspection but also encouraged a collective sense of responsibility and mission. Guiding the reflection was the acronym JOSEPH, a fitting tribute to the school’s patron saint. Sister Clare emphasized the virtues embodied in this acronym: Joy Openness Service Excellence Piety Humility These values, she explained, serve as the nutrients that nourish the life of the institution. By embodying these traits in daily work and relationships, each member of the community can help create the kind of environment where Saint Joseph College can truly thrive—faithfully, fruitfully, and forward-looking. Her session was more than a talk; it was a call to cultivate hearts and spaces where growth is not only possible but inevitable.
