Answer:

As a first-time participant and a seminarian of Saint Pope Paul VI Seminary of the Diocese of Maasin, joining the National PRISAA Games 2025 held in Tuguegarao City was, first and foremost, a meaningful and great opportunity—above all, a grace from God. In reality, I wasn’t supposed to be part of the event, considering that I am currently undergoing formation: intellectual, pastoral, human, and spiritual. These four dimensions reflect the holistic approach of the seminary, which I continue to strive for.

Yet despite that, I truly believe this opportunity was a gift from God, made possible through the kindness and generosity of our Seminary Rector, Rev. Fr. Alexis B. Villarubin, JCL. Through him, the door to this experience was opened for me, and for that, I am sincerely grateful.

This “talagsaon” (extraordinary) experience is something I will never forget since entering the seminary back in 2021. I used it as a tool for shaping my human formation. How? By strengthening relationships with teammates, creating a positive atmosphere with athletes from different regions, and embracing the joy of sportsmanship—regardless of the outcome—as long as I enjoyed the experience.

It also shaped my emotional intelligence: my self-control, zeal, persistence, and the ability to stay motivated. After all, without self-motivation, everything becomes colorless and lifeless.

This journey taught me not to be discouraged, whether I win or lose. What matters most is the condition of the heart. From start to finish, I asked myself: Am I thankful? Grateful? Happy? Contented? Motivated to rise again after defeat? This experience helped me appreciate life’s lessons and find joy in reflecting on simple yet meaningful moments—those “bitaw noh” realizations.

Lastly, this experience became my teacher—because indeed, experience is the best teacher. I’m proud to represent my beloved institution, Saint Pope Paul VI Seminary, which continues to inspire and motivate me. I’m also deeply thankful to Saint Joseph College, my team and educative family.

Despite struggling with the climate and not being able to give my full strength in every game, I carry this moment as a significant part of my journey—one that I will always remember, not just in my memory, but deep within my heart.
