Today, September 5, 2025, we observe the International Day of Charity, declared in 2012 by the United Nations General Assembly.
As stated on the United Nations website, “Charity at its core is an expression of global solidarity.”
In giving selflessly to others in need, we help them grow, and it is in cooperation that we can build better futures for individuals and communities.
In charity and philanthropy, it fills gaps that the government’s public services cannot do and brings us a sense of community and hope in helping and volunteering. It bridges us. It inspires us. It moves us into action. Then, it improves us as a whole.
Today, we give back. We donate things we do not need but are still useful for others to use. We feed those who are hungry. We give water to those who are thirsty, and we should be there for people who need comforting. Let us fill their hopes for a better, brighter, and more promising future to come.
