TACLOBAN CITY โ December 10, 2025 โ Faculty members of Saint Joseph College (SJC), Maasin, through its Institutional Ethics Review Committee (IERC), actively participated in the Seminar-Workshop on Preparing Technically and Ethically Sound Research Protocols held on December 10, 2025, at Hotel de Fides, Tacloban City.
The seminar-workshop aimed to strengthen participantsโ competencies in developing research proposals that meet both technical rigor and ethical standards, in line with national and international research ethics guidelines. Representing SJC were Larry Mulig, Suzanne Sandoval, and Virgilio Tingson, Jr., all members of the SJC IERC.
The activity was facilitated by Noreen S. Buhat, who served as the Resource Person. She provided in-depth discussions on ethical principles in research, protocol preparation, informed consent, risk assessment, and compliance with ethics review processes. The interactive sessions allowed participants to engage in practical exercises and case analyses to reinforce ethical decision-making in research.
The seminar also coincided with the Year-End EVHRDC ERC Full Board Review, giving participants valuable exposure to the full ethics review process and current standards observed by the Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC).
